Walker came home like this yesterday...
I don't even know where it came from... but he thought he was pretty darn cool!
Little Bug has his First Reconciliation next weekend and so he got his very first pair of Dockers...
he wasn't as thrilled as me but... what kid really gets excited about dress clothes? Anyway he was excited to show off his newest Lego creation. Lately he's really into making scenes... here's this weeks scene... the forest fire... all constructed from his own little imagination... love that!
Another report is currently being worked on at the table...
Walker has been working on an animal report... he chose the elk. Went to the library Friday night for research books and he's just about got all of his facts written out.
Ainsley has been busy practicing her festival piece for piano...
It has been challenging for her... she is having a hard time getting her hands to play something different at the same time! We just found out she will also have her violin festival on the same day... March 10 will be an interesting day!
She finished up her note cards for her presentation this weekend and she will finally give her Shoshone oral report on Wednesday... will be so glad to have that done and on to something else.
I am so very glad that this report is done and out the door this morning...
They were given this assignment at the beginning of January and I told Ainsley it would be a good idea to get started early so that it's not crunch time at the end and left it at that. Well she didn't take any of those clues to really work on it until Walker got sick and then I had to do the parent thing and get her to start working on it. She did a bit, wrote down a few things and even opened her Idaho history book. I kept reminding her to get it done in case she gets sick. So the sickness came and as much as she didn't want to work on it then.. it had to be done. So with constant nagging, extreme periods of frustration for all parties involved it is DONE and out the door. She said last night threw tears that it was a good lesson to learn... she's not going to wait until the last moment again. Let's hope so!
I left for work for a couple hours yesterday... came home and checked Ainsley's throat and sure enough the oh so famous white patches had arrived to the party that seems to be happening at our house.
Luckily when I had her tested for strep the day before the Doctor said if the white spots came in the next day or so to call her and she'd call in an antibiotic for Ainsley. So I didn't have to take her back in for another throat swap.
Not wanting to take any chances with another reaction we opted for a NON Cillin...
Ainsley is NOT a medicine taker... she had to take a double dose right off and it was just about all over me... She gagged and was in the motion of throwing it up when I yelled, "DO NOT THROW IT UP!!" Luckily it went down but for the next half hour she was still gagging over it... lovely. Today's dose should be an exciting adventure as well... stay tuned for the next chapter as the McFarlands wage war on the mysterious non hurting Strep Throat saga.
I just might need to check in to a local hotel... ha!
Today I've got one with strep here...
and I've got one without strep (had her tested last night) but all around feeling yucky here...
oh my... think I need to walk around with a mask on. So proud of little Bug today... off to school we went as the "Big Brother" he left early so that he could turn in Ainsley's homework (she was worried about not turning in on time). He's back to feeling better... still blotchy from the reaction but back to being his happy self heading off to school.
This is Walker's newest medicine...
So we knew he was allergic to penicillin and when he was prescribed amoxicillin a week ago for the strep I questioned it... pharmacist said there were enough different components in it that he'd be fine... well he's allergic to that has well. Thankfully it's rash/hives and not a breathing issue.
So I was explaining to kiddos that a good rule for Walker to follow is to not take anything that ends in cillin. When I quizzed Walker later to see if he was listening... after all it's his health... he says, "I know I'm not to take anything with SIN in it!" That might be a good example to follow as well!!!
Do I dare mention that all throw up buckets have been placed back in respective places...
This was the scene late tonight...
Little Bug still had the yuckies and wanted me to check out his cheek inside... he felt like he had a cut/scratch... I looked at it with the flashlight and just happened to check out his throat... he wasn't complaining of a sore throat at all but just happened to check it out... OH MY... one look at that and I got his coat on and shuffled him off to the Urgent Care at 7pm.
Yep sure enough... it's strep... on top of all the yuckiness!!! We had to wait 30 minutes for the prescriptions to be filled... and this was him... leaned up against the counter. Poor Little Bug.
This was the scene on Saturday...
We went to Lowe's to build the latest project a castle and we were planning a drive/hike at City of the Rocks but Little Bug immediately came home and laid on the couch. He didn't feel good and was cold and covered up with the blanket. Mulan being a blanket cuddle cat immediately hopped up on the couch and yowled for Walker to share... for a good 2 minutes she yowled at him non stop... wanting him to share. He was cranky and not having it... love this picture it's like a standoff... they are both staring at each other waiting for the other to cave.
So needless to say Walker was on the couch the entire day and Mommy had to be there too... this is so not going to help our issue on Tuesday when he heads back to school.
Us parents got into bed around midnight... just got the lights off and Little Bug calls... in 5 seconds I'm up... grab the garbage can and get it under his chin as he's throwing up... whew I'm thinking close call. Stewart came in a few seconds later turned on Walker's light and throw up is flowing off the bed... lovely.
It's another couch day today... at least we are getting in on some good football games!
