Day Camp...

June 20th, 2012

Walker had day camp for cubscouts. I stayed for the first 2 rotations. The theme this year was "the wild west" so first up was the gold mine where they learned all about different types of rocks and then got to "pan for gold" which ended up being all kinds of polished and raw rocks.

They each got to take home 3 rocks... and a sample of each type of rock. I had originally planned to leave after that but BB guns were up next and overhearing all horror stories of past camps I decided to stay for one more station. He did good... only once did I have to yell... "Point the gun up!! Since we had a brief accidental aim at the person next to him.

He did well for it being his first time... didn't hit a mark on the target sheet but hey you've got to start somewhere.

They went on to do archery, rope making, leather work, lassoing, compass exploring, as well as tour the fort hall replica museum. It was an all day thing and he was a tired Bug tonight! Overall his favorite station was Archery.

A Favorite...

Cooking

June 14th, 2012

This week we finished up Walker's cubscout wolf handbook. At the end of the month he will graduate to a bear. One of the last sections we had to do was on nutrition. You had to plan meals for your family for a day and then you had to prepare, set the table and clean up for one of those meals. Walker chose to make blueberry pancakes with eggs and milk for breakfast. (You had to have at least 3 things from the food pyramid)

He did a pretty awesome job...

I had to actually cook the eggs for him since it was too much multi-tasking (cooking pancakes at the same time) for him just yet... but he did the rest. He was so proud to tell Ainsley it was time for breakfast... that HE made! He was not thrilled with the whole clean up... which consisted of putting dishes in dishwasher and washing out pancake batter bowl.

Another tooth...

June 12th, 2012

Ainsley lost a tooth... on her own this time. She's been wiggling it for about a week and with a little help from Daddy it was free...

It was a big one...

Today

But why can't I take my bone outside??? Please... oh please..

The Smell...

June 6th, 2012

For the past week when getting into the pantry I thought I got a whiff of something but didn't see anything spilled or opened. Yesterday I was looking for a can way in the back and found a smell coming from that cute little pink lunchbox...

I picked it up and it was heavy... opened it... and found Ainsley's sandwich from the last day of school... 2 weeks ago!!!

Summer

May 31st, 2012

A whole week into summer and we have yet to find a happy medium of being at home... the squabbling is in full force already! Still working on finding a schedule and rhythm to summer... that's what next week will be all about. I haven't even taken photos!

I did catch this sweet photo however... Ainsley reading Harry Potter to Willow..

Happy Birthday...

May 24th, 2012

Happy 8th Birthday Walker Jack!

His request for dinner... Golden Corral. Where you can pile mac and cheese with gummybears (Ainsley's all you can eat plate) and Walker's was a plate of mac and cheese with brownies and a side of cotton candy... ha!

End Of School...

May 24th, 2012

This week wrapped up school for the kiddos. On Tuesday Ainsley and the entire 4th grade classes had the Oregon Trail trek..

For 4 hours they circled the field stopping at the rivers (aka swimming pools) to lift and carry wagons through the ankle deep water. Then it was a stop at each station... to earn a prize that they might be able to use to trade with the Indians for their lives. Here is Ainsley and her "family"... ready to set out.

My station was the "buffalo chip station" The families had to throw the buffalo chips (aka frisbees) into the fire (aka bucket) counting along the way how many tries it took. While one family was doing this the other family had to roll a wagon wheel (aka hoola hoop) across the field only using a yardstick... that was tricky... I couldn't figure out how to keep the wheel going. They had a fun time... were completely soaked and exhausted at the end... I think they did about 3 miles in their trek.

And just like that another school year has come and gone. Hard to believe we'll have a 5th grader and a 3rd grader!! I love looking at the change in photos from the first day to the last day... growing up so big!

Week Wrap Up...

May 21st, 2012

Very glad to be done with the week... was the last "busy" week for awhile... I'm hoping.

Stewart was in Vegas for the beginning of the week and sent us the view from his room and yummy dinner...

Ainsley was busy most of the week with the play but luckily the timing worked out so she could do her last piano recital of the year. First a piece by herself...

And then a duet with Daddy...

Walker had his Patriotic Classroom performance...

And then it was all about the bowling birthday party... oh my those boys are quite the handful... and loud... like screaming loud... they certainly could beat any girl in a screaming contest! I think they all had a fun time though...

A little bit of sibling love BEFORE friends came...

Cupcakes were a bowling lane and bowling balls ...

Cute birthday boy with the cake that had to be rushed since time is such a precious commodity these days, but he loved it...

Then the Little Mermaid play... Ainsley absolutely thrives on these performances. I'm so proud of her accomplishments this week... was hard to be at the play until 7:30 at night and then come home and do homework and practice piano... she did it all!!

Ainsley was a sea scout... a person who lives above and below the water...

She is in the back right corner in this picture of them in the ship...

She had a little solo part and was pretty excited about it...

I always think it's so amazing that they can whip up a performance in just a week. Ainsley next to bestie Kennadi... the only 2 kiddos smiling at me.

Lastly Mr. Snaggletooth no more... tooth fell out after soccer on Saturday... while eating a granola bar... while riding home and Mama had to try and find it in a mouth full of chewed granola... while riding in car... Interesting times I tell ya!

Can't forget Willow... she got a new ball and loves it! A Non-Destructible ball... we'll see how non-destructible it really is with those sharp baby teeth.
