Football Game...

September 20th, 2012

Walker had his first football game of the season...

It was intense... you want your kiddo to have fun but be focused and aware of what's going on so that he is ready to help his team by grabbing flags to stop the ball... this flag football is serious stuff (really).

The play came where the player with ball headed toward him... us parents held our breaths... and he snagged the flag! Whew... huge breath out... he was a happy kiddo... as were his parents and his coach..

Evidently the game was intense for little Bug too since he all but ate thru his mouthguard...

They ended up loosing by a touchdown but all in all good first game... and Little Bug absolutely loved it... like I told him this is his year to shine... he's had to take a back seat to all of Ainsley's past activities... this is his year!

New Smile...

September 14th, 2012

Walker Jack finally has a new smile...

Now for the dramatic story... the snaggletooth was just hanging there and after having corn on the cob for dinner it became wobbly... went to football practice and at bedtime he says, "I think I'm going to pull out my tooth... but I'm scared Ainsley will you help me?" I told him I'd do it... the pictures say it all...

Yank one... not so sure about this...

Yank two... it's out and yep that's shock and some owie!...

Looks like he'll be able to sing... "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!"

The Real Deal...

September 13th, 2012

Walker got his first pair of real football cleats...

He's been loving football and is currently playing the cornerback position... right now it's just flag football... he can't wait until this is part of his attire as well...

State Fair...

September 9th, 2012

Every September we plan on attending the state fair since it's just in Blackfoot but it never fails the fall allergies usually hit Walker and I or the fall crud has taken it's toll on someone. This year I was sure we'd miss it again since last week (opening day) I was sick and this weekend Walker was feeling the stuffiness and had a small fever but we sucked it up and headed out... first time in 4 years!!

We had a bite to eat before we hit the fairgrounds... so we wouldn't eat everything in sight... which was great. Had just a sampling of the fun fair foods without breaking the bank! Ainsley and us parents devoured the corn on the cob...

Walker's other top front tooth is now a snaggletooth and he didn't want to loose it at the fair and opted out of corn. We stopped at the Walker mowers for a quick picture...

Checked out all the RVs a favorite... I was mesmerized and inspired by the Photography entries and Ainsley couldn't wait to enter the fine arts next year. Lastly had Tiger Ears... another fair favorite food... yum... fried dough slathered with cinnamon and sugar and honey butter!!

Had a great day and was so glad we were able to get here this year!

Football

September 5th, 2012

Walker had his first Flag football practice last night...

Serious stuff... 22 kids in all on the team and practice is 4 days a week for 90 minutes each time... will need to re-configure a few kid activities to accommodate the schedule... but hooray practice is close at the school field!!

Took the photo with my phone... he's the one in yellow just about to catch the football. He needs to have a mouthguard... Stewart and I both thought that he could loose a few teeth hah... since he's behind in that area!

He had a fun time... didn't really care what position he played... was just happy to have friends from school on the same league.

Looking Back...

September 3rd, 2012

As Ainsley starts her last year of Elementary school I started thinking about her first day of Kindergarten... she was so excited and so ready to start school. Hard to believe how fast that time as flown by...

Into a couple days of 5th grade and she already came home and said, "I don't like it when other people talk about someone." We talked that unfortunately it happens at all ages... and how to handle being friends with both groups (the talked about and ones doing the talking). She's got a good head on her shoulders... is extremely caring and all too serious at times but I know she will have so many wonderful adventures ahead. Watching them grow is heart breaking and exciting... here's to a great last year of Elementary.

Hello Life...

September 1st, 2012

While dealing with one bad behavior upstairs I came down to find another bad behavior had happened...

Seriously?? Willow has been all out of sorts the past few days... no one home and kennel time equals... bored! I'm sure a good time was had!

First Day of School...

August 30th, 2012

This morning in their first day of school outfit with new shoes and fresh sharpened pencils they headed out to face 3rd and 5th grade...

Walker was a bit nervous and got teary-eyed as we tried to talk about it all last night but he got it together this morning and was full of smiles at his desk.

He had a great day and was excited to talk all about the rover Curiosity on Mars and learn about the new Promethean technology board. Of course connecting with old friends on the playground was the best thing of the day... big 3rd grader now so no afternoon recess... this will be hard on him.

Ainsley was almost bursting at the seams to get to school... she loves everything about it organizing supplies, catching up with friends and meeting her new teacher... no nervousness here... just pure happiness!

Ice Cream...

August 22nd, 2012

Evidently all we do is eat ice cream... that's all the pictures I've literally taken on my phone lately.

There was the Zoofari... all you can eat ice cream at the zoo... it fit right into the A-Z summer fun list as Z...

The strawberry cheesecake was voted best by 3 out of 4 McFarlands!

A good oreo always tops my list as well... ate this one while watching the new little Black Bear cub at the zoo.

Earlier this week we did the letter Y... Yo Crazy Yogurt shop...

Kiddos had a smidge of frozen yogurt and then loaded up on all the toppings... they took full advantage of the all you can fit in your cup for $1.99

There has also been the mega slip-n-slide at the park... with ice cream popsicles... of course!

Winding Down...

August 14th, 2012

Hard to believe Summer is winding down... we've almost hit every thing on our summer fun A-Z list. Letter C was camping ( in the backyard) and we did that over the weekend. The sky was unbelievable Sunday night...

I tried to get a picture of the red sun but the photo didn't do it justice. We got out the camping grill had charcoal burgers and later smores... food is always so much better when you eat/cook it outside! Kiddos set up their own tents... which I think was the last time for them... it was a tight squeeze.

Because I knew they wouldn't sit through the closing olympics we opted for a movie... around 9:30 Walker says, "Um I think it's time for bed." He cracks me up, he always wants to stay up late and then when he's able to... he tuckers out.
